PELOSI DEMOCRAT DANNY O'CONNOR STUMBLES TO THE FINISH LINE IN THE OHIO 12TH DISTRICT SPECIAL ELECTION

O'Connor Admitted He Was Lying When He Pledged He Wouldn't Support Pelosi

Columbus Dispatch Headline: "After Long Dissing Pelosi, O'Connor Now Says He Could Vote For Her As Speaker" (Darrell Rowland, "After Long Dissing Pelosi, O'Connor Now Says He Could Vote For Her As Speaker," Columbus Dispatch , 7/24/18)

After Saying For Months He Would Not Back Pelosi, O'Connor Admitted He Would Do Just That If The Situation Arose. "After saying for months he would not back Nancy Pelosi as the Democrats' leader in the House, congressional candidate Danny O'Connor told a national television audience Tuesday night he would back whichever candidate the Democrats put forth." (Darrell Rowland, "After Long Dissing Pelosi, O'Connor Now Says He Could Vote For Her As Speaker," Columbus Dispatch , 7/24/18)

  • "Questioned Repeatedly By MSNBC Hardball Host Chris Matthews If He Would Support Pelosi If A Democratic Speakership Depended On His Vote, He Finally Said: 'I Would Support Whoever The Democrat Party Put Forward.'" (Darrell Rowland, "After Long Dissing Pelosi, O'Connor Now Says He Could Vote For Her As Speaker," Columbus Dispatch , 7/24/18)
  • O'Connor Had Been Saying In TV Ads And On The Campaign Trail That He Supported New Leadership In The Democrat Party. "Previously, O'Connor several times gave the answer he has rendered on the campaign trail and in TV ads: Both parties in the House need new leadership, and 'the old ways aren't working.'" (Darrell Rowland, "After Long Dissing Pelosi, O'Connor Now Says He Could Vote For Her As Speaker," Columbus Dispatch , 7/24/18)

Danny O'Connor Confirms He Will Support Nancy Pelosi

Dishonest Danny Has Been Caught Inflating His Resume By Suggesting He Did Important Work In A Prosecutor's Office, Despite Him Actually Only Serving As An Intern

O'Connor Made His Work In The Franklin County Prosecutor's Office A Central Point Of His Campaign, But It Was Later Revealed He Was Only An Intern In The Office. "A Democratic congressional hopeful in Ohio's special election has made misleading claims about his experience working in a county prosecutor's office, with public records revealing he was mostly a seasonal certified legal intern or intern supervisor. Danny O'Connor, Franklin County's Recorder since 2016 who's now running for U.S. Congress in Ohio's 12th district against Republican Ohio State Sen. Troy Balderson, has made his work in the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office a central point of his campaign to win a seat in a deep-red district that hasn't elected a Democrat since 1980." (Lukas Mikelionis, "Democrat Running For Congress Inflated Intern Role To Claim Bigger Job With Prosecutor's Office," Fox News , 7/17/18)

O'Connor Made Repeated Claims That He Did Important Work In The Prosecutor's Office. "'After graduating law school and passing the Ohio bar exam, Danny worked in the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office in the juvenile division,' reads the biography of O'Connor on his recorder's website. The same claim has been repeated on his social media accounts and official campaign page for the U.S. Congress. O'Connor's LinkedIn page claims he worked at the county prosecutor's office in the juvenile division between 2011 and 2014. He acquired his law license in Ohio only in 2013. On the campaign trail, he continued to brag about his work at the prosecutor's office during a debate in March." (Lukas Mikelionis, "Democrat Running For Congress Inflated Intern Role To Claim Bigger Job With Prosecutor's Office," Fox News , 7/17/18)

O'Connor Never Held A Long-Term Position In The Prosecutor's Office, Instead Serving As An Intern, Despite His Suggestion That He Worked There For Three Straight Years. "But public records reveal that O'Connor is loose with the facts when it comes to his past work experience. According to the Franklin County Auditor's Office and its payroll data, at the prosecutor's office he held titles such as 'Prosecutor Legal Intern Supervisor' and 'Prosecutor Legal Intern Certified.' They weren't long-term positions and the employment dates resemble seasonal jobs, despite O'Connor's suggestions that he worked there for three straight years." (Lukas Mikelionis, "Democrat Running For Congress Inflated Intern Role To Claim Bigger Job With Prosecutor's Office," Fox News , 7/17/18)

This Hasn't Been The Only Example Of Dishonest Danny Inflating His Resume

O'Connor Claimed Credit For Creating A Paid Family Leave Program That He Did Not Actually Do. "Ohio Democratic congressional candidate Danny O'Connor is claiming credit for creating a paid family leave program when he was the County Recorder, a program he did not start. On Jan. 9, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved a paid family leave program after the county received a $126,000 analysis grant from the federal government. The program applied to all county employees, not just those in the recorder's office. However, on O'Connor's campaign website it says he created the program for employees. 'And he worked to make the Recorder's Office a place that supports working families, creating the department's first paid family leave program for his employees,' O'Connor's campaign website says. The Franklin County Board of Commissioners said it created the program in a January press release." (Jack Heretik, "Dem Candidate Claims Credit for 'Creating' Paid Family Leave Program He Didn't Start," Washington Free Beacon , 7/18/18)

"O'Connor Has Also Come Under Fire For Claiming On His Recorder's Biography Webpage That He Was Vice President Of The Student Body At Syracuse Law. However, He Was Actually Vice President Of The Student Bar Association At The Law School." (Jack Heretik, "Dem Candidate Claims Credit for 'Creating' Paid Family Leave Program He Didn't Start," Washington Free Beacon , 7/18/18)

O'Connor Has Echoed Pelosi Talking Points In Opposing Tax Cuts

O'Connor Has Echoed Pelosi Talking Points In Opposing GOP Tax Cuts, Claiming The Tax Cuts "Permanently Gave Money Away To Corporations." "O'Connor said the overall tax cut package was bad, except for cuts aimed at the middle class. The Tax Policy Center says two-thirds of the tax cut is going to the top 1 percent of earners. 'I'd love to see the math on how much of that is spent on buybacks of shares, as opposed to giving folks raises,' he said. 'This was a tax cut that permanently gave away money to corporations.' The tax cuts for individuals are temporary." (Jim Siegel, "12 District Candidates Offer Sharp Contrast On Taxes, Guns," Columbus Dispatch , 7/2/18)

O'Connor Claimed The Tax Cuts Don't "Do Anything For Working People." "'We just saw, this last December, a $2 trillion swipe of the national credit card, a giveaway to big corporations,' Mr. O'Connor, the Democrat in a special election on Aug. 7 for an open congressional seat here, told the crowd, drawing nods. 'That doesn't do anything for us. It doesn't do anything for working people.'" (Jim Tankersley, "Trump Owns the Booming Economy. Republicans on the Trail Barely Mention It," New York Times , 7/27/18)

But, In The Ohio 12th District, According To The Tax Foundation, Taxpayers Making Between $50,000 And $75,000 Will Save An Average Of Nearly $1,500 From The GOP Tax Cuts. ("Mapping 2018 Tax Reform," The Tax Foundation , Accessed 8/5/18)

In The Ohio 12th District, According To The Tax Foundation, Taxpayers Making Between $75,000 And $100,000 Will Save An Average Of Nearly $2,000 From The GOP Tax Cuts. ("Mapping 2018 Tax Reform," The Tax Foundation , Accessed 8/5/18)

O'Connor Has Echoed Pelosi In Opposing A Southern Border Wall

O'Connor Opposed Spending To Build A Wall On The Southern Border. "O'Connor opposes spending to build the wall. 'I'd much rather rebuild roads and bridges here in Ohio than a wall along the Texas border.'" (Jim Siegel, "12 District Candidates Offer Sharp Contrast On Taxes, Guns," Columbus Dispatch , 7/2/18)
